Glulam Logs

A log building at is made with glulam means the logs from a tree have been cut in half and the centre of the log in both halves is turned to the outside, these two pieces are then glued together using a special process.

This process makes the logs are at least 10 times stronger and more resistant to disease and insects, the heartwood is the center of the tree and it is the oldest part of any tree unlike the outside wood of a tree which is younger and softer.

The wood from the outside of a tree is also more susceptible to disease and pests and is not as strong as the centre so when you are looking for a log house or log garden building it is best to find one that has been made from heartwood.
